The only marking is on the works, "Retard & Lante". Have been told it was an English coachman's watch ca. 1860's. I have been unable to find any information. It is large, 65mm (2 5/8"), 22mm thick. You set the time by holding down a button on the edge that is purposely hard to get to. There is a glass lens that covers the movements. The finish is well worn and will not polish. The inside is very shiny. The watch chain is 14" and most likely silver with a small match box attached.
