Taxco and Designer Jewelry from Mexico. Taxcos very special and rare signed pieces from elite silversmiths of Taxco.

Mexican Jewelry became fashionable in America in the 1940’s. A small mining community known as Taxco became the center of the jewelry industry in Mexican architect, known as William Spratling settled in Taxco in 1929. He revived the silversmiting trade by opening a shop selling regional Mexican crafts. He alone had 422 workers. Hundreds of smaller workshops opened & silver jewelry with Spanish/Indian design became fashionable in America.
